Frequently Asked Questions
What size race numbers do I need?
Most autocross organizations require numbers between 8-10 inches tall with class letters around 4 inches. Our standard kits are designed to meet the requirements of most clubs, including Sports Car Club of America events.
Are your numbers SCCA legal?
Yes. Our standard race numbers are designed to meet Sports Car Club of America size requirements. Always verify your local region’s supplemental rules before an event.
What's the difference between Low Tack, Permanent, and Magnetic?
- Low Tack: Reusable, removable, ideal for autocross and occasional track events.
- Permanent: Best for dedicated race cars or long-term use.
- Magnetic: Easy to install and remove on steel body panels without adhesive.
Will the low tack vinyl damage my paint?
No. When applied to clean, properly cured factory paint, our low tack material removes cleanly without leaving adhesive residue.
Is Low Tack safe for my vehicle?
Safe for factory paint, most paint protection films (PPF), and quality vehicle wraps when applied and removed correctly. Always test in an inconspicuous area first. Do not apply to damaged, lifting, or newly installed PPF or wraps.
Can I reuse my low tack numbers?
Yes. With proper care, low tack numbers can be removed, stored on their backing paper, and reused for multiple events.
Are the numbers weatherproof?
Yes. All printed graphics are laminated for UV protection and designed to withstand rain, sun, and track conditions.
Are the numbers gloss, satin or matte?
All of our race numbers are finished with a premium gloss laminate, giving them a vibrant, high-gloss appearance. The laminate not only enhances the colors but also provides added protection against UV exposure, scratches, moisture, and everyday wear to keep your numbers looking great event after event.
Can I request a custom order?
Yes! If you need race numbers in a custom size, font, color, or layout, we’re happy to help. Whether your club has unique requirements or you simply want a personalized look, contact us and we’ll create a custom set of track numbers tailored to your needs.
How long will my order take?
Most race number orders are produced and ready to ship within 3 business days. Once your order has been produced, shipping time depends on the ship to location. Most U.S. orders arrive within 2–5 business days after they ship.
SCCA Vehicle Identification Requirements
- All vehicles must display numbers and class letters on both sides, which must be readable by Timing & Scoring, Course, and Grid workers at all times.
- Only one set of numbers and class letters may be visible while the vehicle is running.
- Class shall be represented by the upper-case abbreviated form rather than be spelled out. Ladies’ classes shall be indicated by the letter “L” following the class letters. (Example: “BSPL” instead of “B Street Prepared Ladies.”)
- Numbers and class letters should be positioned next to each other. All letters and numbers must be on body panels, not on windows. All numbers and class letters must use the same typeface and the same color, and this color must provide adequate contrast to the background color (see Appendix F for examples).
- Numbers must be a minimum of 8″ (20.5cm) high with a 1 1/4″ (3.25cm) stroke. Class letters must be a minimum of 4″ (10.25cm) high with a 3/4″ (2cm) stroke. In all cases, the height of the class letters must be between 25% and 75% of the height of the numbers. Stroke width must be at least 10% of the height (see Appendix F).
- The “1” on two-two driver cars and the “L” on Ladies class cars are subject to all of the above requirements with regard to placement, color, size, and stroke.
- Karts may use numbers and class letters of reduced size provided that the following conditions are met:
- Numbers must be displayed on the front and rear in addition to both sides.
- Class letters must be on both sides.
- In no case may the numbers be smaller than 6″ (15.25cm) in height with 3/4″ (2cm) stroke, using a high-contrast color and background.
